WHAT IS ON-DEMAND PUBLISHING?

ON-DEMAND PUBLISHING
PRO: One book is printed at a time when there is an order for it. NO
UP-FRONT COSTLY BOOK RUN!
SELF PUBLISHING
CON: If you find your own printer and binder for your book, you will
need to order a minimum of a thousand or two thousand books. Costly,
and you are going to need to store them somewhere.
SUBSIDY PUBLISHING
CON: Subsidy publishing is a lot like self-publishing, only you pay
for the book run, and you pay a middle man - the subsidy publisher.
Very costly.
TRADITIONAL PUBLISHING
PRO: The publisher pays for all the costs of your book. You usually
even get an advance of $5,000 to $10,000 if you are lucky. A good
way to go, if you can get them to even read your manuscript. But
remember, whoever pays, gets control, which brings us to our next
point.

ON-DEMAND PUBLISHING
PRO: Since you pay for on-demand publishing, you maintain creative
control regarding the content and book cover. You also decide how
long your book stays in print. We have editors at On-Demand
publishing to help you, as an added service.
SELF-PUBLISHING
PRO: Same as on-demand publishing, but you will have to find your
own editor and book cover designer.
SUBSIDY PUBLISHING
PRO: You pay for it, so again, you have control.
TRADITIONAL PUBLISHING
CON: You do not decide how long your book stays in print! You also
have a whole staff, from art director to editor, to assist you, but
the flip side is, often the writer and publishing house do not see
eye to eye. The bottom line for them is making it commercial.
Selling books is important, but they often have formulas - it can
only be so long, etc. Who's to say they are right? Bridges of
Madison County was rejected as too short, then it was successfully
self-published, and boom, short books were suddenly fine.
